Our History

The Burnaby School District first opened its doors in 1906, with only 60 students and a few teachers. Since its beginnings Burnaby administrators, teachers and staff shared a common goal—to provide the highest standard of education to the community. Today, Burnaby is recognized as a leader in education in Canada. Burnaby’s standing was recently reflected in a review by the Ministry of Education, which stated:

Burnaby is a leading edge district – both provincially and internationally.
