Christmas and Winter Holidays are coming and it is time to start planning what you will do over the Christmas Break. From December 25th to January 5th, Burnaby schools close and you will need to fill up your itinerary above and beyond any homework. Luckily there is no shortage of things to do in Metro Vancouver so make some time for fun.
Burnaby South Secondary School serves students living in the catchment area of Burnaby bordering Boundary Road, the Fraser River, Metrotown, and Byrne Road. It was first established in 1922 with its current building opening in 1993. The school has approximately 1,700 students and has some notable alumni, including former BC Premier Christy Clark.
Winter is fast approaching and, for many international students, the weather for the next few months will be a big change from what it’s like at home. Fear not, however! Your fellow students will guide you in the right direction clothing-wise, and here are some tips that will get you through to the spring – although in Metro Vancouver you never know when you will need to put the umbrella away.
Moscrop Secondary is home to approximately 1500 students and is located in Central Burnaby. Founded in 1956, Moscrop has many esteemed programs in academics (including Honours and AP courses), the performing arts, music, as well as French Immersion. Along with other secondary schools in Burnaby, Moscrop prepares its students for life after graduation with its excellent work and career experience programs.
Burnaby North has distinguished itself as a top destination for learners in academics, athletics, and the arts. Founded in 1922, Burnaby North has over 2000 students. It is the largest secondary school in BC, as well as the largest in Western Canada.
SFU has been innovating the delivery of higher education since it opened its doors to students at the top of Burnaby Mountain in 1965. It has been rewarded for that trail-blazing leadership by being ranked as the top comprehensive university in Canada by Maclean’s Magazine.
Making the move to study in Burnaby means a whole new way of life in an ethnically-diverse, thriving city. Burnaby has a population of over 220,000 people, making it the third largest city in BC.
Metro Vancouver has some of the largest tech companies operating here, such as Microsoft, Sony Pictures Imageworks, and Electronic Arts.
