How Can I Apply?

What documents do I need?
The list of documents you need to submit is on the first page of the application. You will need: last 2 years of school transcripts, in English and in the native language, passport page, medical form, parent waiver form, custodian form (if not a Langara Homestay student).
Do I need an IELTS or TOEFL score to apply?
Do you accept students who are 18 years old or more?
No. Students must be under 18 years of age up until December 31 of the year of the school year they are applying for.
What are the application deadlines?
Please watch our website www.studyinburnaby.ca closely as we announce on the homepage when schools are full and closed.
When can I start?
Our intake dates are the beginning of September (orientation the last week of August), and Mid-January for elementary, the beginning of February for secondary (orientation the last week of January).
Can I choose any Burnaby school?
You can select up to three schools on the application form but it is at the discretion of the Admissions Committee, based on space availability, as to which school you will be placed at.
What is the difference between semester and linear schools?
Three secondary schools use the semester system and five secondary schools use the linear system. A semester school has 2 semesters: September to January and February to June, 4 subjects per semester. A linear school has 8 subjects from September to June.
What do I have to pay in order to have my application confirmed?
The application fee confirms the application and after, if the application has been accepted, you will be sent an invoice and a payment due date. Payment must be then received by that date in order for the space to be guaranteed.
How long does it take to get an answer after I have applied?
You will get an automatic response once your application has been submitted confirming we have received it. The application then has to be reviewed. If any documents are missing or incorrectly filled out, you will get an email from our Admissions Clerk within a few days of submission informing you or what we need and giving you a deadline for submitting such documents.
How does it take to get my Letter of Acceptance (LOA)?
Once all required documents, and full payment, has been received, you should be emailed your LOA within a business week.
What are the fees?

Can I pay by credit card?
We only accept a credit card for the application fee when the application is submitted. All other payments must be by wire transfer, bank draft or certified cheque.
Can I pay in installments?
No. All fees (application fee, tuition, medical and homestay deposit if homestay is requested must be paid in full in one payment.)
Are there scholarships for international students?
How can I find a custodian?
If you are a Langara Homestay student you can request Langara Homestay to find you a custodian. If you are in private homestay then you or your agent is responsible for finding an approved custodian.
Can I defer my start date after I have been accepted?
No. You will have to cancel and re-apply. However, if the deferred date is to our next available intake, you do not have to pay the application fee again.
