Montecito Elementary School’s mission:
The staff, parents, and community of Montecito Elementary School are committed to learners employing the core competencies (Communication Thinking and Personal and Social Responsibility) every day in school and in life, and for the core competencies to be an integral part of all curricular areas. Core competencies are defined by the B.C. Ministry of Education as sets of intellectual, personal and social and emotional proficiencies that all students need to develop in order to engage in deep learning and life-long learning.

At Montecito, we have a diverse population of approximately 260 students. Our staff is committed to working together to help each child learn and grow socially, emotionally and academically both in and out of the classroom. We offer a variety of curricular and extra-curricular programs. Students have many opportunities to participate on athletic teams, develop and show their talent in music and dance, celebrate their learning and accomplishments during our monthly Celebration of Learning assemblies and participate in a variety of clubs such as the knitting club and Odyssey of the Minds.
