Does the Burnaby School District offer any academies? Can international students participate in these academies?

Burnaby offers the following sports academies: Soccer, Ice Hockey, and Volleyball. International students may apply.

Is there a required test in order to be accepted into an academy?

For the Ice Hockey Academy, there is limited space and students must have at least 4 years of ice hockey experience. For Soccer, all levels of ability are welcome.

Are there extra costs for academies?

Yes each academy sets its own fees.

How does the academy work with the school program?

Students in an academy do a modified school program, i.e. fewer than 4 courses per day, so will take longer to graduate. Some credit will be given for the academy, however.
